When I
began this adventure over four (4) years ago, I applied the cream to my
forehead and along my hairline only! I stopped at the hairline because I thought the cream might affect the growth of my hair.
But after 30 days of use, my left temple
became sore and I realized the AK lesion continued under my hairline.
Most of the AK became
activated by the cream but the part under my hairline was not progressing
and keeping up with the rest of the area being treated. So
I shaved the hair from both
sides of my face and continued treating both areas!
I discovered it was important
to shave the hair from any skin being treated, because the cream absorbs
into the hair instead of the skin which slows down the cream's effectiveness
and this skin's progress does not keep up with the adjacent skin being
treated.
The cream continued to work
fine after shaving the area but at one point when I was rubbing my left temple, a diamond
shaped island of
skin rubbed off which is visible on the picture below. The skin was
actually raw underneath the
piece that rubbed off, so I stopped applying the cream and let the area heal up.
I then allowed my hair to grow back and never retreated the area again until recently.
Day Number 70
Below are pictures I
took every few days, it was interesting to see my theory proven by these
pictures. The cream must be continued after the AK gets red, it is actually
the dying AK that gets red! It is very important to continue treating an area
until the redness comes out; when the redness is gone, the AK is gone!
Some people apply the
cream twice a day but I only apply the cream once a day, allow it to
absorb in for two (2) hours and then coat the area several times with pure Aloe Vera gel
giving the skin twenty-two (22) hours to heal. I feel it is very important
to give the skin healing time as often as possible during treatment. This
practice prevents healthy skin from getting too red, it also helped me to
control the pain and continue the treatment.
